Big Muff's Quest
Objective: Return fairness to the game of Muffleball in an effort to save the Muffleball Republic and help The Bearded Gnomes improve their standings in the league. Keep Big Muff apprised of our progress via the Book of Two Way Communication.
Background: Big Muff has assembled this team because it has what he believes to be the necessary talents to unravel the mystery of The Bearded Gnomes 30 year losing streak and to return fairness to the game of Muffleball.
Investigation Notes:
The team reviewed some tape from a couple games last season in which The Bearded Gnomes had a real shot at winning but something seemed to change mid game resulting in a disappointing loss.
Game 11 vs The Cognosticators at Home
Summary: Up until halftime the Bearded Gnomes were trading points with the Cognosticators, one of the top tier teams. After halftime, The Bearded Gnomes seemed lethargic. Even the Mascot stopped dancing and just watched the game for a bit. By contrast, the Cognsticators and their mascot seemed almost manic as they moved with unnatural speed. Boulder beard recognized that the Cognosticators sideline had too many people, not extra players or staff but some bald folks that seemed out of place.
Game 2 vs The Cultivars at Cultivars
Summary: This game was back and forth up until the final two minutes of the game. Zezz and Boulderbeard identified similar looking bald men arrive along the sideline yeilding similar results and the game ended with another disappointing loss.
Other Game 11s
Summary: Zezz and Boulderbeard reviewed 3 other games from week 11 of last season and identified that in at least one of those games the bald men were present on the winning sideline.
All Lord of Blades Close games over the last 30 years
The bald men appeared 30 years ago. First there was only one and the games did not always result in Lords of Blades victory. Over time their numbers grew and so did their influence on the game. As many as 5 may be present at a critical game. Zezz began to think of them as T"he Adversary"
Description: Human in appearance, male and female, bald, wearing cast-off clothing, expressionless
Powers: Teleportation? Perception manipulation? Induce lethargy? Enhance physical prowess?
What we know:
1) They’ve been around for 30 years.
2) they appear to simply teleport in. No entrance or exit. One frame they aren’t there, the next they are.
3) they don’t interact with anyone and no one seems to notice them.
4) they have no real human mannerisms. No blinking, no scratching their nose. Very still.[9:23 AM]
5) they’ve increased in numbers over the years, they all look similar but not the same. No distinguishing feature or ornamentation.
